Three things to know before you ask.
The invitation
A member gives your name to Mark. He writes to you, or he does not. If he does, you are asked to one evening as that member's guest. After that evening the table decides whether you are asked back. There is no fee to be considered and no list you can add yourself to.
The evening
You arrive in black tie with a mask on. Drinks first, in a room you were told about the day before. At nine the tables open. Each table has a host who explains the game, sets the pace and keeps the room civil. Play finishes before midnight.
The cause
Every evening carries one charity, named on the invitation. Whatever the tables raise across the night goes to that charity in full, and the amount is published on this site within the month, alongside the charity's own confirmation.
Sealed on the night.
Each seat has a card and a token. The token is yours for the evening and comes back to the house at the end. Nothing leaves the room but the total raised.
- Black tie and masks. Masks stay on until the host says otherwise.
- The venue is disclosed to members only, the day before.
- No phones at the table. No photographs of faces, anywhere.
- Every table plays for the named charity. What is raised is published.
- Guests are the responsibility of the member who brought them.
- Doors close at nine. Late is late.
- Eighteen and over. Identification may be asked for at the door.
- The host's word is final.
